During the pandemic, young people not only experienced feelings of FOMO, but they genuinely missed out on important events in their lives due to widespread lockdowns and restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic. People were no longer able to see their friends, celebrate their birthdays, attend school or university, or even visited loved ones who were unwell during the pandemic. This led to a rise in loneliness, and the concept of ROMO – The Reality of Missing Out – began to emerge. The Interactive Infographic in this thematic area explores the concept of ROMO and supports young people to develop methodologies to combat feelings of ROMO in the face of a global pandemic.
